When Death Inherits the Earth (Single, 2020)
When Death Inherits the Earth was released in 2020 as a standalone music video single, two years prior to the album Raptus, for which the song was originally written.
The track is among Devourer’s most violent and unrelenting compositions, driven by a first riff locked into an uneven 5/4 time signature. This asymmetry gives the song a destabilized pulse, setting it apart rhythmically and lending it a distinct sense of forward collapse.
The version presented in the video uses an early mix prepared during the Raptus sessions. Compared to the final album mix, it carries more low-end weight and several subtle structural and textural differences, preserving the song in a more raw and immediate state.
