Addicted to Death (Single, 2018)

Addicted to Death is one of the most personal recordings in Devourer’s catalog. Originally written in 2015, the song predates its Devourer incarnation and was born under conditions far removed from any studio. Re-recorded with Fredrik Håf on vocals and expanded with a long, desolate guitar solo, this version was initially meant for Across the Empty Plains (2017) but was ultimately left behind.

In 2018, the track resurfaced as a standalone music video single. The video was filmed by John Falk on a bus between Storvik and Gävle while traveling to outpatient treatment—an extension of the same long confrontation with addiction that gave rise to the song itself. To fully understand where Addicted to Death comes from, its origin must be traced back to another name, another recording, and a locked institution: Nastrand.

Tracklist

music: john falk – lyrics: john falk
Every souls vessel
Fall victim to decay
Rotten corpses rank of death
Dead eyes dried tears
I am alive
Cursed to walk the Earth
I envy the dead
Addicted to death

Addicted to Death!
Addicted to Death!

On to the final rest
In silent serenity
My memories are killing me
And they must die with me
In the realm of shadows
The ground will never thaw
So far from heaven
As one can ever be

Addicted to Death!
Addicted to Death!
