Filth (2013)

Released on October 7th, 2013, Filth marks a point of irreversible descent for Devourer. It was the first song tracked in drop A — a tuning that would become the band’s permanent tool — and the first music video ever created by John Falk. Song, lyrics, and visuals emerged together in a prolonged and obsessive process, driven by pure creative compulsion rather than intention or structure. To this day, it remains unclear whether the words birthed the images or the images demanded the words.

The single is backed by Deathwatch, a singular anomaly in the Devourer catalog and the band’s first experiment with D-beat aggression. Balancing raw black metal hostility with brutal, technical death metal precision, Deathwatch stands as both an outlier and a prophecy of violence yet to come. Its lyrics are lost, erased without backup, leaving only the sound as a document of intent.

Tracklist
1. Filth (5:15)
music: john falk – lyrics: fredrik håf
I recent the human fucking race
Humankind is no more than filth
The desperate need for recognition
Is a pathetic social code

Stick a gun into your mouth and pull the trigger
I can't stand the sight of you

Behind the mask of all your virtues
You know you all look just the same
Your ugliness is seeping out
And soon you will all fall apart!

Your shell will cave-in and crumble
And I shall bear witness to your global demise!

Humankind is weak
Humanity is false

2. Deathwatch (3:44)
